Pocket Dice Casino Review
Pocketdice.io is unlike any online casino site that you’ve played at before. For one, there’s only a single game offered: as you’d expect from the name, it’s a Bitcoin dice game, and it is a simple one at that. The site is also run entirely using Bitcoin, and even allows players to receive a very small amount of money to play with on a regular basis just by opening an account.
This might all seem a little silly to gamblers used to playing a wide variety of slots and table games at a typical online casino. But there’s actually a lot of fun to be found on this simple site, and a few things that are working in Pocketdice’s favor that might make you want to give it a try.

An Extremely Simple Game
Pocketdice offers exactly one dice game for players. In the game, you roll two standard six-sided dice. But before you roll, you must first set a total of anywhere from two to twelve, and bet on the total being either under or over that number (ties count as losses). The odds are presented in decimal format, with payouts ranging from 1.01 (meaning you earn one unit for every 100 you bet) for an almost sure thing such as “Over 2,” up to 35.3 for betting on the longest of long shots, such as “Over 11.”
After that you simply roll the dice and see the results! If you win, your winnings are added to your account immediately; lose, and the amount is instantly taken from your account. After winning bets, you can also play a classic “double or nothing” game that risks your winnings; simply pick three of the six sides on a die, and if the next roll matches one of those sides, you’ll double your prize.
While this game can be fun—it’s extremely fast paced and so easy to play—it probably wouldn’t be able to support a site on its own without a gimmick. And in this case, that angle is Bitcoin. You won’t be able to play on this site with anything other than Bitcoin, and no alternate banking options are available: you can deposit and withdraw in Bitcoin, but nothing else.
If you don’t want to actually deposit Bitcoin (or aren’t sure how), you can always start by taking advantage of the free Bitcoin faucet on the site. Signing up for an account takes less than a minute: you can do so either by linking a Facebook account or just putting in a name, email address, and password.
Once you’ve done so, you can instantly claim 1,000 “satoshi,” which is the smallest possible division of a Bitcoin (100 million satoshi are equal to a single Bitcoin). Should you ever fall below the minimum bet amount (a single satoshi), you can reload another 1,000 satoshi every hour, and can speed up this reload time by posting backlinks to the site on social media, forums and websites.
This free money doesn’t amount to very much: 1,000 satoshi is only equal to 0.01 mBTC, with each mBTC in turn equal to only 0.001 Bitcoin. That means that at current exchange rates, you’re being awarded less than a penny each time you turn on that faucet. Still, it’s a great way to get a hang of the game without depositing anything on your own.
If you do want to play at higher stakes, you can always click on the deposit button (the plus sign next to your account balance), which will provide you with a personalized wallet address that you can send your Bitcoin to in order to have it show up in your account. The maximum bet per roll is 20,000 mBTC (or 20 Bitcoins), but you don’t have to wager that much to have fun: a quick look at all the bets happening on the site at any time shows that most players are betting less than 1 mBTC per roll.
Features Improve Player Experience
Because this game is so simple, Pocketdice works well even on mobile devices, including those that utilize touchscreens. There are also occasional tournaments that reward the players who wager the most over a given amount of time, with the winners being rewarded with thousands of mBTC.
One other thing that I liked was the fact that the house edge was very low on all of these bets. Depending on the exact wager made, the advantage for the site is between 1.6% and 2.1%, making it as good as or better than most casino table games: that came as a big surprise considering how simple this game is.
A Surprisingly Fun Package
Pocketdice surprised me with how much fun it could be despite how limited the site is in many ways. I was rolling the dice again and again, trying to run up a big score with no risk to me, thanks to the free fractions of a Bitcoin the site gave me just for signing up.
Let’s be completely honest: Pocketdice is never going to replace other gaming sites for players who enjoy betting on sports or playing poker. But there’s really no downside to signing up, and the site is certainly fun to play around on, making it a great option for casual players or anyone who wants the occasional light game to play as a diversion.
